A Brand Checklist: A Perspective from our systems
Starting a new business or launching a new product is a daunting task. There are countless things to consider before you can effectively communicate your message. It can be overwhelming, but don’t worry, we’re here to help. Grab a piece of paper and a pen, and let’s start with a brand checklist.

Define Your Product, Service, or Message
The first thing you need to consider is what exactly you’re offering to the world or your community. What are your products or services? Narrow this down to the top 3 things you have to offer. Remember, it’s not about pleasing everyone or doing everything. Focus on what you’re best at and condense your message into a single sentence or a few main ideas. This way, the next time someone asks “what do you do?”, you’ll have a concise answer ready.
Determine the Tone of Your Brand
How do you want people to feel when they interact with your brand? What do you want them to take away from the interaction? Start by writing out a few words that describe the feelings you want to evoke. Then, narrow it down to 2–3 specific feelings. Once you’ve done that, you can start to determine the tone you need to use in your communications to elicit these feelings. For example, if you want your audience to feel inspired, your tone might be inspirational. If you want them to feel grounded, your tone might be calm.
Ensure Your Assets Communicate Your Brand Tones
Do your logo, color scheme, font choices, website, social media profiles, etc., all represent the tones you’re striving for? If you don’t already have any brand assets, consider discussing this with your designer. Make sure you’re both on the same page about what you’re trying to communicate and what you want your audience to take away from any interaction with your brand
Identify Your Target Audience
Who are you trying to reach? List the characteristics of the exact person you want to work with, sell to, or engage in conversation. When you can identify your ideal client or customer, you can start to determine how to open a channel with them. This will make marketing your product, service, or message much more authentic and effective.
Choosing the Right Vehicles to Communicate Your Message
Are you using the right methods to communicate your message or promote your business? If you’re selling a product from your online shop, should you really be posting flyers around town? Think about who your ideal client or customer is, and research the best ways to reach them authentically. When you can speak the language of your audience, you’ll resonate with them far more effectively.
